Frequently Asked Questions |
|
Is this just for kids’ rooms?
Definitely not! Although it’s great for kids, we actually do
master bedrooms in more homes than kid’s rooms. Guest
bedrooms are also a great place. What a treat and a fun way
to surprise your friends and relatives when they come to
visit. |
Is
this like the stick on stars I can buy at the store?
No. Stick on stars can be fun, but they can never match the
beauty and realism we provide with our night sky art. |
|
Can you describe what this looks like when I
turn out the lights?
That’s a tough one. You know what they say about “beauty
being in the eye of the beholder,” but we’ll do our best.
It is astronomically accurate for any special day and time
of your choosing. For a couple’s master bedroom, maybe it is
the day and time they were married. For a child or single
adult, maybe the day and time they were born. It is a
beautiful rendition that includes the constellations, the
Milky Way and hundreds of small minor stars for added depth
and beauty. Even the Moon and shooting stars can be added to
suit your tastes.
It is accurate enough that for kids you can even consider it
educational. For adults, well let’s just say you couldn’t
ask for a more beautiful, peaceful or tranquil image to look
at as you fall asleep. It's fun for all ages, but the real
attraction is simply its beauty… "in the eyes of nearly any
beholder." |
|
What does it look like during the day or in
normal room lighting?
In most all cases, the effect is invisible until you turn
the lights out. We define invisible to mean that a person,
who doesn’t know there is something “special” in the room,
will not notice a thing. On low smooth ceilings, a person
who knows what’s up there, may be able to spot them as small
paint bumps, but you have to look for them. There are
particular light conditions that might make them slightly
more visible, but even then, very few customers would find
this objectionable. However, if this is a concern, please
ask us and we’ll describe this in greater detail. |
|
Does the application come down on the walls?
Sometimes; this is determined by customer preference,
ceiling shape and wall color. If you have a standard flat
ceiling and your walls are white or a very light color, this
can be a great effect and we would love to do it for you. |
|
Does my ceiling have to be flat?
Definitely not! As a matter of fact, you couldn’t ask for a
better place to put the stars than inside a tray or vaulted
ceiling. Visually, every line and angle disappears. You’ll
feel like you are sleeping under a dome. |
|
What color should my ceiling be?
White or any off-white is best. If you really want color on
your ceiling, yellows or a light beige would be the next
best choices. Color doesn’t really affect the night time
effect, but will increase their visibility in normal
lighting as the background color gets deeper / darker. |
|
What if my room has a textured ceiling?
Texture may add slightly to the installation time, but we
can work on nearly any textured surface including stipple,
knock down and even popcorn type surfaces. Any texture will
guarantee invisibility in normal lighting, regardless of
ceiling height. |
|
What if I have a ceiling fan, recessed lights
or some other item in or on my ceiling?
No problem. We work around them all the time and at night
when you turn the lights out, they will visually disappear. |
Do I have to
move furniture?
In most cases no. If you have a high ceiling, the bed or at
least the mattress and box spring may have to be moved. |
How long will
the installation take?
Unless you have a very high ceiling or unusual items to work
around, we will likely be out of your home in 4 hours or
less. |
|
How long will this last at night?
This is a difficult question to answer as different factors
play a role. Every room is a little different. The darker
the room is and the better your night vision is, the longer
the effect will last. However, in most cases you should see
the full effect for more than an hour. It will slowly dim
through the night, but the major stars should remain visible
for hours into the night. Remember the whole idea is to give
you something truly beautiful to look at as you are falling
asleep. |
|
What is the product’s lifespan?
In an interior application, like a bedroom, it should have a
fairly indefinite lifespan. Rooms done 18 years ago still
look great today. You will probably want to paint your
ceiling long before it shows signs of wearing out. |
What if I
want the stars in more than one room?
That’s great! Ask your local dealer about their multiple
room discounts. |
|
It sounds like it would be great in a home
theater. Can you do it on my theater ceiling?
The application we use in bedrooms simply doesn’t work in a
theater / media room setting and anyone who tells you
otherwise isn’t giving you the full story. Remember this is
invisible in normal room lighting, so turning the TV on
diminishes the effect.
To address this issue, a special process has been developed
to deal with the light in a home theater. There are many
other applications for this process besides theaters,
including commercial environments like restaurants and bars.
The end result is stunning and provides the perfect
finishing touch for that special room. |
